Material selection is a system decision

Strength alone rarely decides a material. A useful shortlist also considers stiffness, toughness, temperature, chemical exposure, UV, moisture, tolerances, joining, manufacturing route, volume and supply.

Start with the requirement set, then compare candidate materials against the same criteria.
Important: DIVE-LD profiles intentionally avoid pretending that one generic number defines a material family. Final design should use the exact supplier grade, condition and manufacturing process.
