Tolerance Stack Calculator

Calculate a 1D linear stack using nominal values, worst-case limits and one-sided RSS limits. All calculations run locally in your browser.

Enter positive tolerance magnitudes. “+” dimensions increase the stack; “−” dimensions subtract from it. RSS is an engineering estimate and should only be used when its statistical assumptions are appropriate.

How the calculation works

For worst case, each dimension is moved to the limit that maximizes or minimizes the final stack. For RSS, upper and lower contributing tolerances are combined by the square root of the sum of squares.
